Bee Balm

On my journey of healing and having serious side effects from medication that left me with severe diarrhoea, stomach upset and even my tongue was completely black and raw, which has lasted almost a week after the medication has been finished.  The Black Tongue is beginning to fade thank goodness, but not the diarrhoea!. Can't imagine what it has done to my insides!!!!   So this being said I had to rely on what I know about Plants and some of the Medicinal uses of the plants that I have at my disposal.
Bee Balm

Perhaps you have noticed the beautiful Red Flowers in my Yard!

It's a Medicine!  It also comes in Pink and Light Purple Colors which is indigenous to North America

  1. Flowers can be eaten-added to Salads, Decorate Cakes, they are a little spicy!  Humming Birds Love them!
  2. Mosquito Repellent-Bee Balm repels insects, it is best used crushed and either rubber on the skin or make your own cream recipe infused in oils and or with beeswax.
  3. Antiseptic- can be used for poultices for skin infections, acne, eczema,  minor wounds, externally and internally through teas!
  4. Bee balm is the natural source of the antiseptic thymol which is used in mouth washes to treat gingivitis and tooth decay
  5. Can be used to treat Headache and fevers as a stimulant to break the fever, by making a tea from the crushed leaves.
  6. Can be used to trigger heat in the body if one is exposed to hypothermia through an infusion of a tea made from the crushed leaves that have been preserved.
  7. Great for stomach issue to control flatulence and to help control stomach upset, and is said to be effective against Candida.

In the Fall I will divide and remove some of the Bee Balm from it's patch for it doesn't like overcrowding.  If anyone is interested in having some of these highly medicinal flowers please feel free to ask me!
